Cheri Corfey

 Owner

Cheri founded Zap Payroll in 2016, which was previously GreenPay Payroll Services and Alameda Bookkeping & Tax. She left the corporate world 17 years ago to focus on her business endeavors and what we know Zap Payroll to be, today. She is passionate about helping and advocating for small businesses to succeed, and as a small business owner herself, she can relate to the many struggles and hurdles they often encounter. 

Cheri has her degrees in information systems and accounting, which have helped contribute to her success in different major roles such as the Alameda Chamber of Commerce and Greater Alameda Business Association. As a resident of Alameda for 25 years, she enjoys hiking the area and kayaking whenever possible. She loves big family dinners and quiet times on the couch with her fur babies.

Patty Jacobs

Client Care Specialist

Patty joined Zap Payroll in February 2017 and enjoys assisting clients and building relationships. A lifelong resident of Alameda, she brings experience in bookkeeping, payroll and understanding of small businesses and nonprofits.

 

Patty spent 8 years as the Project and Event Coordinator for the Greater Alameda Business. Since 2010, she's been a part time bookkeeper with a local CPA firm, and assisting during tax season. Patty holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Cal State East Bay. She's a founder, past president, and compliance officer of a national nonprofit, Breastfeeding USA, and has been helping Alameda mothers as an accredited Breastfeeding Counselor for over 30 years. 

 

Patty and her husband John Jacobs of Bank of Marin have two daughters and one fur baby, Bailey. 

Rene Ng

Rene joined Zap Payroll in the beginning of 2018 and quickly began using her expertise as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She recently became People Advisor Certified by Gusto, and has utilized these certification to further help clients. She's adaptive and ready to help with our clients' business needs. 

Rene has lived in Reno, NV for the last 22 years, however recently became a local to Alameda, CA. She is a fun and enthusiastic spirit who enjoys anything and everything! She values spending quality time with her family, going on walks at the beach, playing with her pup Chi, and cruising on her motorcycle. Pre-pandemic, she enjoyed going to play's, comedy shows, and musicals!

Laura Herrera

Client Care Specialist - Spanish Speaker

Laura joined Zap Payroll in May 2020, and as a recent addition she has adapted to meet client's needs during hectic pandemic times and ensure quality customer service. As a Spanish speaker, she has allowed Zap Payroll services to expand into a new territory which will serve and connect with the Hispanic business community in the Bay Area. 

 

Laura has her B.S. degree in Marine Biology from SFSU and has lived in South San Francisco for the last 23 years, but has recently become a local to Alameda, CA with her partner, and their 2 babies - Pacman frog, Doyle and Arizona Blonde Tarantula, Dee. Her easy-going and adventurous self enjoys hiking, having cozy nights in, spending time with loved ones, and attending rock concerts/shows.

Julie Balassi

Client Care Specialist - Nevada Location

Julie joined Zap Payroll in November 2019. As a Client Care Specialist, as she is located in Reno, NV, she primarily assists all Nevada based clients. She is training to soon be a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor to further expand her knowledge in bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online. 

 

With 5 school-aged kids and a French Bulldog puppy, Opie, the fun never stops for Julie. She also enjoys quality time with her partner and every now and again going on a hike!

Remi Khan

Sales Associate

Remi joined Zap Payroll in 2020 as a Sales Associate. Her charismatic personality has allowed her to create meaningful connections and relationships throughout her career. She is an empowered and self-motivated woman who is ready to bridge small business owners with Zap Payroll. 

 

Remi has worked in customer service close to 10 years, in various settings such as retail and food/beverage. She studied Accounting at Skyline College with a degree in Humanities. Remi enjoys spending time with her nephew, god children, and even drawing or painting.
